2018年度	March 30	The NEXUS team has the party at Shinjuku.
	March 25	Graduation ceremony
	March 1	Our department held the final presentation for graduate thesis.
	February 26	Our department held theprogress report session of 1st degree of maste cource students.
	February 25	Our department held the final review for master's thesis.
	January 18	NEXUS was successfully launched, and the operation was started successfully.
	December 26	We held the year-end party.
	December 13	JAXA held the press release session of the Innovative Satellite Technology Demonstoration-1. Mr. Yamaguchi participated in the session and explained about NEXUS.
	December 10	We held a briefing session of our new ground station to control NEXUS.
	Nomember 11	We had a trip to Ura-Bandai and Nasu.
	October 24-26	The 62nd JSASS Space Sciences and Technology Conference was held in Kurume, Japan. Shitara (M1) had the presentation about his research "Shape of Starshade Consisting of Self-Deployable Membrane Truss", and received the JSASS Most Excellent Presentation Awards for Students (chosen from 96 applicants).
	September 25	We delivered NEXUS to JAXA.
	September 24	We had the development completion presentation of NEXUS.
	April 6	We held the guidance meeting of CESS for the fresh students.
	April 1	Prof. Miyazaki's proposal "Establishment of Construction Theory of Large Gossamer Space Structure System and Quest for Feasible Construction Scenario" was adopted as a research subject of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (A) (research period: FY2018-FY2020).

FY2017	March 25	Prof. Miyazaki received the Achievement Award from JSME Space Engineering Division.

	Dcember 4	Kousaka, Kawarabayashi, and Fukunaga won the first place of Debris Mitigation Competiton.
	November 18	NEXUS team held the design review (briefing) of the mission system of NEXUS.
	November 11	Prof. Miyazaki received the commendation from JSME in the 120th anniversary of JSME.
	November 3-5	We opened a store of flied chicken and flied potato in the college festival.
	October 25-27日	The 61st JSASS Space Sciences and Technology Conference was held in Niigata, Japan. Fukunagaga presented her research "Improvement of Deployment Behaviour of Self-Deployable Truss" in the student session, and received the JSASS Excellent Presentation Awards for Students.
	October 3-4	e had the anual laboratory trip.
	September 20	The review meeting of NEXUS was held in our campus.
	September 7-16	CLTP8 was held in our campus.
	August 27-29	CanSat Koshien was held in our College.
	July 29	Prof. Khalil left our laboratory and went back to Egypt.
	May 9	We had the system safty review of NEXUS at Tsukuba Space Center.

	January 9-13	Prof. Yamazaki presented his research "Data Driven Model for Efficient Prediction and Estimation of Spin Type Membrane Space Structure Dynamics", Mr. Tada presented his research "Membrane Deployment de-orbit System by convex tapes", Mr. Tatematsu presented his research "Verification of the Similarity Rules for Spin Deployment Membrane in the ground experiment", and Mr. Tamura presented his research "Deployment Dynamics of Selfdeployable Truss Structure Consisting of Bi-convex Booms".
	December 21	The Space Engineering Conference (SEC) was held at Yamaguchi. Sugano, Fukunaga, and Yamaguchi (B4) had the persentations of their research.

	October 17	Nano-Satellite Symposium (NSAT), Deorbit Device Competition (DDC), Mission Idea Contest (MIC), and Unisec Global Meeting was held at at Varna, Bulgaria. Suzuki (M1) and Mr. Tada (M2) had the presentations on their research. Tada won the 1st place of the competiton!
	August 18	TV program "Nippon no Kako-mon" was on air.
	August 10	ACMD was held at Kanazawa for 3 days from 8-10 August. Tamura (M2) had the presentation about his reserch "Report on Microgravity Experiments of Self-Deployable Truss Structure Consisting of BCON Booms", and Tatematsu (M2) had the presentation about his research "Similarity Rules for Spin Deployment Membrane". Tamura won the paper award.

Prof. Miyazaki's proposal "Establishment of prediction method of dynamics of large gossamer muti-body space structures and understandings of their dynamics" was adopted as a research subject of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Resaerch (B) ( - end of FY2017).

FY2014	Mar. 26	SIMPLE received the award "Space Frontier" from Space Engineering Dvision of Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

	Mar. 18-21	Dr. Yamazaki, Mr. Yoshihara, Mr. Suzuki, and Prof. Miyazaki held a workshop using model satellite Hepta. Prof. Miyazaki had an invited lecture "Human Resource Development for Space Engineering Science Using CubeSat" held in The 4th Workshop on Space and Satellite Technology at All Nations Uniersity College (ANUC), Ghana.

	January	Prof. Yamazaki and Prof. Miyazaki joined "Formation of a base for research and development of advanced deployable structure promoting innovative space science" led by Prof. Hiraku Sakamoto (Tokyo Institute of Technology) as co-resaerchers. The project name is ORIGAMI（ORganizatIon of research Group on Advanced deployable Membrane structure for Innovative space science).
	Jan. 31	Prof. Miyazaki had a seminar "Making Satellite - from design to launch -" at Sakae Chunichi Culture Center. The seminar was held in series at January 31, February 28, and March 28.

	Nov. 28	Mr. Shimazaki, Mr. Murata, Mr. Maruki, and our laboratory "Nihon University Space Structure Systems Laboratory" won the 1st prize of the 11th micro-gravity experiment contest by airplane by the research topic "Research on the analysis of the deployment behavior of inflatable membrane space structure". Mr. Maruki had an invited presentation at APRSAF.
	Nov. 30	Water rocket festival was held at Funabashi campus hosted by JAXA as a pre-event of APRSAF.

	May 24	SPROUT was launched by H-IIA-24 as an piggy-back satellite of ALOS-2 and injected into a sun-synchronous orbit of 600km altitude. SPROUT has been working well.
	Apr. 14 - May 19	"Let's become SPROUT Master" was posted in SPLOG.
	Apr. 9	SPROUT was delivered to Tsukuba Space Center.

FY2013	Mar. 31	The development of Nano-satellite SPROUT was completed.
	Mar. 25	Mr. Kento Ohinata and Mr. Shota Ohinata won hornor prizes of Nihon University 2013.

	Feb. 8	Dr. Yamazaki, Mr. Fujiwara and laboratory member held the Space Engineering Course "Hands-on learning of Model satellite CanSat" hosted by the Space Engineering Division of Japan society of Mechanical Engineers.
	Nov. 10	Dr. Yamazaki had a lecture "Realization of nano-satellite SPROUT from winning of Best Design Award" in the Space Engineering Course hosted by the Space Engineering Division of Japan society of Mechanical Engineers that was the post-event of Satellite Design Contest.
	Nov. 9	The junior team of Satellite Lab (My. Kai Yoshihara, Mr. Daishi Kawarabayashi, Mr. Yukiteru Sekiguchi, Mr. Yuuki Tatematsu, Mr. Akinori Tamura, Mr.Satoshi Yamada, and Mr. Shota Yamada) won the Astronomical Society of Japan Award, and Best Model award at 21st Satellite Design Contest.
	October	President Samuel Donkor of All Nations University College（ANUC）, Ghana came to Japan and exchanged MOU on development o fnano-satellite with our laboratory.

	Oct. 22	Web site of nano-satellite NEXUS was open.
	Sep. 3-5	Laboratory trip in Shinshu
	Aug. 17	SIMPLE succeeded in the extension of Inflatable Extension Mast (IEM).
	Aug. 4-5	Open day of Funabashi campus
	July	MCE (Multi-mission Consolidated Equipment) that includes SIMPLE (experimental setup for Space Inflatable Pioneering Long-term Experiment) was mounted in HTV and launced by H-IIB rocket. It was successfully installed to Kibo's Exposed facility.
	Apr. 25	Prof. Miyazaki won the award "Best Paper in Gossamer Systems" with Dr. Hirotaka Sawada (JAXA) and co-researchers by the paper entitled "Mission Report on The Solar Power Sail Deployment Demonstration of IKAROS" at 52nd AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference.
	Apr. 1	Dr. Masahiko Yamazaki was assigned to a research associate of our department.

FY2011	Mar. 29	Prof. Miyazaki was awarded "Uchuu Shou" from the Space Engineering Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
	Mar. 28	The combined membrane structure verification satellite "SPROUT" proposed by Nihon University Nano-satellite Development Project Team (Satellite Lab) was selected as a piggy-back satellite for H-IIA rocket launch in FY2013.
	Mar. 25	Mr. Yamazaki received a degree of Doctor of Engineering from Nihon University.

	Aug. 15-16	FM-3 of SEEDS and other staff related to nano-satellite was exhited at Chiba Museum of Science and Industry.

	Jul. 16-17	Our laboratory exhibited research products at "Sai-no-Kuni Shingaku fair" for junior high school students, and conducted a small lecture on space engineering and workshop of hand-made antenna and Origami.
	May 15	Our laboratory conducted the experimental workshop of Funabashi Utsukusi-Gakuen local family club as an activity of Mirai-Hakase-Kobo.
	May	As the post activity of Space Structure Systems Research Group "S3", ALSS (advanced Light Structure Systems) research group was organized as a research group in the Space Engineering Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. Prof. Miyazaki and Dr. Yamazaki joined the group.
	Apr. 23	Our laboratory member had a lecture on space engineering and conducted the workshop of hand-made antenna at Yuri's Night.

	Feb. 25	Prof. Miyazaki had an invited lecture "Role of University Nano-Satellite Program" at the Workshop on Satellite Technology held in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
	February	Prof. Miyazaki stayed for one month in England according to researcher abroad program (A) of Nihon University.

	July	We welcomed Ms. Tomoko Yamada as an assistant of our laboratory.
	June	Small Solar Power Sail Demonstrator "IKAROS" that had launched in May 21 2010 succeeded the deployment of its sail membrane.
	April	Freshman program of Satellite Lab started.
	Apr. 1	Prof. Miyazaki's proposal "Solution Structure of Gossamer Multi-body Dynamics" was adopted as a research subject of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Resaerch (B) of MEXT ( - end of FY2012).

FY2009	Mar. 31	Prof. Nakamura retired. We missed Prof. so much.
	Mar. 20	We conducted laboratory alumni party.
	May 10	We exhibited our research products in the event "Space Education Project Mission ZERO" at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. We introduced deployable structure and nano-satellite, and held a hands-on event of Miura-holding Origami and hand-made antenna.
	Feb. 23	We conducted a deployment experiment of 5m-class anti-debris device at Nagasaki city with QPS Research Institute as a Jaxa's research program.
	January	Prof. Nakasuka's project ""New Paradigm of Space Development and Utilization by Nano-satellite" started. This project was one of the FIRST program funded by the Cabinet Office of Japan. Prof. Miyazaki participated in this project as a sub-theme leader and a co-researcher. The sub-theme was "Research on advanced design and component technology of nano-satellite". The research theme was "Research and development of deployable structure". ( - end of 2013).
	Dec. 12	Anual meeting of Satellite Lab
	Nov. 5-6	Our department exhibited a booth at Aerospace Industry Exhibition Tokyo. Our laboratory exhibited research products related to nano-satelites in that booth.
	Nov. 1	Mr. Masao Ikeda, Ms. Miki Itoh, Mr. Yasuhiro Kase, and Mr. Ryo Hayase won the award by Japan Space Forum and Best Model Award by their concept proposal "SPACE OFURO" in 17th Satellite Design Contest.
	October	The educational activity of our college "Assuarance of the ability of returning the profit to society and the level of bachelor through awareness education" led by Prof. Yoshio Aoki (Department of Precision and Machinery Engineering) was adopted as an educational subject of Good Practice program of MEXT ( - end of FY2011).
	Sep. 23-24	Laboratory trip (Nagatoro)．
	Sep. 14-19	We participated in ARLISS with a CanSat that conducted the experiment of the ATV (Amateur Television).
	Jul. 9	Ms. Shoko Inoue won the Student session Tsukuba Executive Committee Award by her paper "Prediction Methods of Wrinkling in Thin-Membrane" in The 27th International Symposium on Space Technology and Science.
	May	As the post activity of ALSS research group, Space Structure Systems research group (S3) was organized as a research group in the Space Engineering Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers ( - end of FY2010). The organizer was Prof. Miyazaki.
	Apr. 1	A part of the research "Research on Advanced Light Structure Systems" led by Prof. Ken Higuchi (ISAS/JAXA) was received by Prof. Miyazaki as a contract research between ISAS and Nihon University.
	Apr. 1	The proposal by Prof. Sabro Matunaga (Tokyo Institute of Technology) "Research on Practical On-Orbit Servicing Systems Using Nano-Satellite Technologies" was adopted as a research subject of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (A) of MEXT ( - end of FY2011). Prof. Miyazaki joined the project.

FY2008	February	Prof. Nakamura changed his affiliation to Nihon University Research Institute.
	Sep. 15-20	We participated in ARLISS with ComeBack CanSats.
	July	The Oscar number "CO-66" was given to SEEDS.
	Jul. 2	The representatives of Space Technology Institute (STI) of Vietnum Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) visited our laboratory. We showed our experimental setups in the laboratory and introduced our research activity and satelliet development.
	Apr. 28	Our second satellite "SEEDS-II" (sometimes called SEEDS) was launched by PSLV-C9 rocket from Satish Dawan Space Center in India. The satellite was injected into a sun-synchronous orbit with about 630km altitude. SEEDS-II has been operated well.
	April	The research and development project "Research on Advanced Light Structure Systems" started with the support of ISAS Strategic Development and Research Grant ( - end of FY2010). Prof. Miyazaki joined the project.
	April	Mr. Yamazaki and Mr. Katayama conducted the flight operation of SEEDS at the Satish Dawan Space Center in India.
	Apr. 1	Prof. Miyazaki's prolosal "Structural Design of Membrane in Large Membrane Space Structure" was adopted as a research subject of Research Grant for Indivisual Research of Nihon University.

FY2007	March	Final check of SEEDS was conducted at University of Toronto. After that, SEEDS was delivered to India.
	Feb. 14	The symposium on career education was held in Tsuboi elementary school. Mr. Yamazaki had an invited lecture about satellites and deployable structures.
	Dec. 8-9	We co-hosted UNISEC Workshop with UNISEC at Funabashi campus.
	Nov. 28	Students in Tsuboi elementary school visited our laboratory as the internship project of Chiba Prefecture. We introduced our activities using satellite models and Origami of deployable structures.
	Sep. 21	SEDSIC Pre-Conference Workshop was held at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), and Prof. Miyazaki had an invited lecture "CubeSat "SEEDS" -Launch of Japanese CubeSat with Indian Rocket-"
	Sep. 12-14	We participated in ARLISS with ComeBack CanSats.
	August	The educational activity of our college "Awake of indivisual autonomy and creativity by Mirai-Hakase-Kobo (Future-Doctore-Laboratory)" led by Prof. Akiyoshi Itoh (Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering) was adopted as a educational subject of Good Practice program of MEXT ( - end of FY2009). Satellite Lab was established.
	July	The launch of SEEDS was postponed (until next April).
	Jul. 6-7	We exhibited our research products related to nano-satellites and CanSats at Nichidai Fair held in Takasaki city.
	June	SEEDS-II was completely developed and exported to University of Toronto.
	May 28	The research proposal "Space verification of space inflatable structure SIMPLE" led by Prof. Takahira Aoki (University of Tokyo) was adopted as the candidate of one of the secondary mission of JEM exposure equipment of JAXA. Prof. Miyazaki participated in the project.
	Apr. 1	Prof. Miyazaki's proposal "Research on inflatable membrane structure system for anti-debris of nano-satellite" was adopted as a research subject of Research Grant for Specially Promoted Research (C) of Nihon University College of Science and Technology ( for one year).
	Apr. 1	Prof. Miyazaki's Proposal "Structure-preserving numerical method of gossamer multi-body dynamics" was adopted as a research subject of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Resaerch (B) of MEXT ( - end of FY2009).

FY2006	Mar. 25	Mr. Kosuke Arita won the student award of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Science 2006.
	November	ALSS (Advanced Light Structure Systems) research group was established. Prof. Miyazaki joined ARLSS.
	Oct. 30	The voice data for the digi-talker of SEEDS was recorded at Tsuboi elementary school.
	Oct. 29	Mr. Masahiko Yamazaki, Mr. Akira Yamaguchi, Mr. Yuta Araki, Mr. Kosuke Arita, Mr. Akira Urita, Mr. Ikko Okazaki, Mr. Takashi Kameyama, Mr. Junya Taneda, Mr. Yuta Chiba, and Mr. Takafumi Masuda won the Best Design Award by their design proposal "PRIMROSE" in 14th Satellite Design Contest.
	Sep. 29-30	We exhibited the research products related to the launch of SEEDS at Nichidai Fair held in Utsunomiya.
	Sept. 20-22	We participated in ARLISS with the CanSat for the BBM of next satellite "SPRIOUT".
	August	We engaged the launch of a CubeSat by Indian PSLV rocket with University of Toronto.
	Jul. 27	SEEDS was launched from Baikonur Space Center by Dnepr-LV7 rocket, which was a cluster launch of 17 satellites with 13 CubeSats. The launch was failed by the trouble of the first stage engine of Dnepr.
	April	Prof. Miyazaki assumed a visiting associate professor of ISAS/JAXA ( - end of FY2007).

FY2005	November	We participated in USSS.
	Oct. 1	Prof. Nakamura assumed the deputy dean at Funabashi campus of Nihon University College of Science and Technology ( - September 2008).
	Sep. 21-23	We participated in ARLISS with ComeBack CanSats. The young team consisting of sophmore and junior students also participated in ARLISS with "SAROS".
	Aug. 10	The Come Back Competition was held firstly at Noshiro Space Event. Our laboratory firstly participated in the event, and a young team consisting of sophmore and junior students participated in the competition by a CanSat "SAROS" that is a hybrid of fly-back and roevr-back CanSat.
	Apr. 1	Prof. Miyazaki's proposal "Formulation of dynamics model of unmanned autonomous flight system by control of para-foil using flexible multi-body dynamics" was adopted as a research subject of Research Grant of the Futaba Electronics Memorial Foundation (for one year).
	Apr. 1	Prof. Miyazaki&'s proposal "High-precision dynamic simulation and construction of similarity rule of large membrane deployable space structure" was adopted as a research subject of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C) ( - end of FY2006).

FY2004	Mar. 25	Mr. Nobuaki Kinoshita won a honor prize of Nihon University 2004.

	Dec. 13	We participated in the Come Back Competition held in Kyushu. Our CanSat recorded 29m unofficially, and we won the Jury's special award.
	November	THe launch of SEEDS was postponed. The launch was postponed for several times until July 2006.

	September	Our laboratory's first Cubesat "SEEDS" was completely developed, and exported to CalPloy.

FY2003	Mar, 26	Prof. Miyazaki won the achievement award from the Space Engineering Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

	December	We engaged the launch of CubeSat "SEEDS" by Russian rocket Dnepr with California Ploytechnic State University (CalPloy).
	November	Prof. Miyazaki won the Research Award (education and technology division) of Nihon University College of Science and Technology by the activity "Practical education project of space engineering through development of nano-satellite".

	Sep. 26-28	We developed a ComBack CanSat "CBC" and a formation flight CanSat "FFC", and participated in ARLISS.

Ms. Kanako Daigo, Mr. Masataka Hirajo, Ms. Yuka Iwai, Mr. Shigeki Uchiyama, Mr. Satoshi Okino, Mr. Kazuma Sase, Mr. Masakatsu Nakane, and Mr. Takeshi Maruki won Society for Promotion of Space Science Award by their concept proposal "Space Cooking" in 11th Satellite Design Contest.
	Oct. 26	We participated in the first Come Back Competition in Japan "Itakura Competition".
	Sept. 30	Prof. Miyazaki came back to Japan after one year's research in U.S.A.

	Oct. 21	Mr. Masataka Hirajo, Mr. Masahisa Inoue, Mr. Yusuke Ohkawa, Mr. Masanori Sakaino, Mr. Koji Nomura, and Mr. Shunsuke Hinuma won "Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Science" Award by their design proposal "Egg-shaped satellite SUCUSUCU" in 9th Satellite Design Contest.
	Sept. 11	Prof. Miyazaki was sent to Universty of Colorado at Boulder as a visiting researcher ( - September 2002).
	August	We participated in ARLISS with a ComeBack CanSat and a CanSat for technology verification of sensor system and communication system. Come Back Competition was established.
	Apr. 1	The joint proposal by Prof. Nakamura and Prof. Miyazaki entitled "Dynamics of nano-satellite with large membrane structure" was adopted as a research subject of Research Grant for General Joint Research of Nihon University.
	April	We started the development of CubeSat.

FY2000	Mar. 25	Mr. Tsuyoshi Kodama won a honor prize of Nihon University 2000.
	March	Skiing camp
	December	Educational project in our department "Comprehensive engineering and education of creative design and manufacturing through development of nano-satellite" was adopted as a research subject of Grant for private university of MEXT (FY2000-FY2003). We introduced several facilities for development of nano-satellites.
	December	Our laboratory conducted a deployment experiment of an inflatable tube under micro-gravity at JAMIC in Kami-Sunagawa, Hokkaido, which was followed by the research on inflatable structure and the launch of nano-satellite SPROUT.
	11月	We participated in USSS for the first time.
	Oct. 22	Mr. Koji Nomura, Mr. Hiroshi Isobe, Ms. Taeko Mizuno, Ms. Yukiko Yamazoe, and other 6 member won the Eoncouragement Award by their concept proposal "Storm Insider" in 8th Satellite Design Contest.
	July	Our laboratory developed three CanSats and firstly participated in ARLISS.
	Apr. 1	Prof. Miyazaki's proposal "Behavior of inflatable structure under micro-gravity environment" was adopted as a reserch subject of Research Grant of Nihon University College of Science and Technology.

FY1999	November	Our laboratory firstly participated in Japan-US Space Systems Symposium (USSS). Prof. Twiggs of Stanford University proposed the concept of "CubeSat".
	Oct. 17	Ms. Yukiko Yamazoe, Ms. Taeko Mizuno, Mr. Hiroshi Isobe, Mr. Koji Nomura, and Mr. Toshiaki Fujii won Jury's Special Award by their design proposal "Survaival Satellite" in 7th Satellite Design Contest.

FY1998	Oct. 18	Mr. Masatoshi Okeda, Mr. Masaki Namaizawa and other laboratory member won Japan Society of Aeronautical and Space Science Award by theier design proposal "Flying Object Observation Satellite in Lunar Orbit" in 6th Satellite Design Contest.
	September	The experimental subject "towing of glider" started as a theme in the class "Aeronautics experiment I" for sophmore students.
